Natasha drove around slowly in Annabel's Jeep, keeping here eyes peeled for any survivors who might try to make their way into the city. This was the one thing that they had to try and stop, the Raiders: stop any unwitting survivors from getting into the city, which was swimming with zombies, and then consequently getting eaten or bitten. The radios were down, as were the TVs and TV stations, so there was practically no way of communicating with people who were making their way towards the city that didn't include them already having walkie talkies that connected to both the Hideout and Aston Hall Uni. The chances of that were, let's face it, less that 0. So here she was, riding around in a Jeep at the edges of town, a gasmask covering her face so that the stench of dead bodies (both human and zombie) couldn't make her throw up or pass out. It was against protocol and Hideout Raider code for her to go out alone in case the zombies tried to get to her, but she didn't see the point in taking out everyone for a job that only one person could manage. She probably wouldn't even be needed at the edges of town anyway because nobody ever came towards the city. It was a waste of her time, energy and fuel for the Jeep. But, like Sarge always says, what has to be done has to be done.

Ashton Douglas drove quickly through the town until she was driving parralel to Natasha in her Jeep. "Tash!" she hissed into the in-built walkie talkie in her gas mask. Tasha had one in her mask aswell so that they could communicate without taking off their masks. "What in the Hell were you thinking, coming out here on your own?! You know that the Walkers own this place!" She cursed and scanned the horizon for any movement. The machineguns that had been built into the Jeeps in the Beginning came in handy when there were only a few people out of a Raid. "And besides. Any survivors wouldn't come in this way, would they? I mean, would you? Look at all the bodies here! Look at all the blood!" She gestured around at the mess on the floor around them. "It's out me right off this place!"

Natasha rolled her eyes. "That isn't the point, Ash, and you know it. Sarge wouldn't send us out here if there wasn't a chance that there might be survivors coming. And you know Sarge is never wrong." She looked around her as she turned a corner - this corner wasn't part of the road, though. It was a bank of sandbags that were soaked with blood and there were bodies, broken and rotting, dotted over the bags. Some of them showed places where the flesh looked as though it had been stripped away by an animal. These were the signs of a zombie feeding. There was no way to mistake it with natural rot. A couple of Walkers, perhaps, had been here to feed in the last couple of days.
Actually, it was more likely to have been a couple of Old Ones who had fed here. Walkers went to the more crowded places, the shops, and fed on unwary humans there. Old Ones were desperate for the flesh, the sustanence, that would keep them alive and moving. They were so desperate that they would eat the flesh of a body that had been dead for more than six months.
Willing herself not to gag, Natasha looked out at the entrance to the motorway that was to the left of her. It was an odd sight to see cars or even people coming into the city from the motorway, but there was always a chance that they might try to get in this way. And a chance was all that the Survivors needed to keep their hope alive.

Ashton snorted. "Oh, please. Would YOU come into this place if there was something like this lying here? 'cause I know I wouldn't. Damn hell wouldn't."

Natsha glared at Ashton as they rounded another corner together. God damn, she knew this girl was like some sort of ninja when they were on a Raid, but she was so... so... ANNOYING! Why did she have to keep shooting down the little hope that Natasha had allowed to remain? And yes, if there was any sign of human life, she would go anywhere, and she knew Ashton would too!
"Actually," she replied to Ashton frostilly, trying to keep her anger under check. They didn't need a fight this close to a Walkers' nest. "If there was any sign that we were here, any at all, I'd come here and at least try to find another survivor. If I were one of those who are wandering around out there. Maybe if we tidied this up a little - moved the bodies, put up signs and such, we'd attract more people like us!" She ended up shouting at the end of her sentence without meaning to, and then self conciously looked around the two Jeeps in case she had attracted any unwanted zombie attention.

Ashton bit back a sharp reply and looked around them both uneasily aswell. "You're right - we should be tidying up the place so that survivors can see that we're actually here. It's a great idea, one that I've put to Sarge many times. But he just thinks that changing anything will mean the zombies will know that we're here." Her voice was quiet as she said this, the volume low so as to not attract any zombies. The area was usually full of them; it was odd that none were here now. Maybe they had heard the Jeeps coming and fled? Though, they were already dead and had no brains to think with, so why would they be scared of two lonesome humans?
Granted, those two lonesome humans had sub machine guns strapped to the back of their cars. But hey, zombies aren't really that interested in things that aren't food. And if the girls stayed here much longer, they most definately would become zombie fodder.
