Natasha Monroe knocked urgently on the doors of the Redrum bar; Gary, the barman, looked out of a peephole adn saw the girl. She knocked out the special password in Morse code and he allowed her into the bar. However, she wasn't actually in the bar; she had walked right into a large steel cage that was just inside the room.
"You infected, girl?" Gary asked gruffly. She shook her head.
"No bites or scratches of any kind, Sir." she replied respectfully. He waved a blood tester in the air and she held her hand out of the cage. He spiked her finger with the small metal lance and then put the lance, with a drip of Natasha's blood on it, back into the tester carefully. The LED light at the top went orange for a moment, then flashed a muddy green colour and then stayed a bright green. he watched the tiny screen until the device beeped and he turned the tester to Tasha. It said 'Uninfected' in large black letters. Gary, apparently, satisfied with the outcome of the test, unlocked the cage and let Tasha in. She stretched her legs and accepted a sticky plaster from Gary to put over her small cut. She followed him back to the bar.
"New fangled-thing huh, Gary?" she asked him in light tones as she slid onto a bar seat. He walked back behind the bar, stroking his grey stubble.
"It's a portable bloodtester, issued by V.I.R.U.S. We're all supposed to have them now. The Hideout got it?" he asked gruffly.
"Nah," she replied. "We got built-in testers and a retinal scanner in every entrance. It's like something out of a movie or something."
"Very nice. Wouldn't mind one of those myself. But I suppose my cage and my tester does well. Not many people come around anymore anyway. Drink?"
Tasha thought for a moment. "Go on then. You gotta vodka kickin' about out there?"
Gary grinned. "Comin' right up."
